Your host, Dennis Meyers, has a long history of studying the California economy and developing important economic analyses.
Since 1998, he has been a Principal Economist producing national and California economic forecasts for the California State Department of Finance. He develops several each year, which form the basis of the state’s General Fund revenue forecasts. He is a noted authority on California’s economic condition.
He is the author of the Department’s two widely read publications about the state the California economy. The monthly Finance Bulletin which provides up-to-date California economic conditions to state agencies. The bimonthly California Economic Indicators used by banks, investment companies, and universities includes current economic statistics and commentary. It also includes an in-depth look at key economic indicators.
Prior to working for the Department of Finance, he was an economic research manager for the California Integrated Waste Management Board within the California Environmental Protection Agency. He supervised a research team that developed
valuable analyses and exceptionally accurate revenue forecasts that were used by the agency, the California Legislature, local governments, and the public.
Dennis is also a popular economics lecturer. He has been an Economics instructor for the Los Rios Community College district, introducing students to the study of economics via traditional, televised and internet classes.
